A vibrant groundcover with intense blue flowers.
Description
Dampiera diversifolia is a low-spreading native plant that produces a carpet of deep blue flowers in spring and summer. It is ideal for rockeries, hanging baskets, or as a dense groundcover in well-drained soils.
Dampiera diversifolia comes from the south west of Western Australia. The flowers are a deep, true blue and appear over a long season, while the low growth knits into a soft mat as the plant spreads by underground stems.
It does best in full sun to light shade in soil that drains well, and it copes with sandy ground. Water young plants regularly through their first summer. A trim after the main flush of flowers keeps the patch tidy, and it grows well in a hanging basket, on a rockery or along the edge of a border.
